SEF cosponsored an iftar
dinner at Kenyon College. This was the second such event at
Kenyon. Members of the faculty, students and staff of the college
participated at the dinner on October 11. Also sponsored by
Snowden Multicultural Center, and The Board of Spiritual and
Religious Life at Kenyon, the dinner was held with an intention to
contribute to the efforts on the campus to increase awareness,
understanding and respect for cultures and religions other one's
own. The program started with brief remarks about meaning of
fasting and significance of Ramadan, followed by the call to
prayer and supplication, then dinner with delicious Turkish food,
and conversations. The participants enjoyed the food and the
atmosphere. For most of the guests, this was the first time they
experienced a Muslim ritual personally.
