The Scioto Educational Foundation welcomed more than 150 friends with food and fun at an Eid al-Fitr gathering.
The festivities celebrating the conclusion of Ramadan, the month when Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset was held Tuesday, October 24, at the Ohio State Union at the Ohio State University.
The occasion provided an opportunity to meet with friends, reflect on the month of Ramadan, and share fun and food with others.
Guests were greeted at the door with candy, which is
traditionally distributed on the holiday that is known as the Seker Bayrami, or the Candy Holiday, in Turkish. The evening also featured traditional Turkish delicacies, such as baklava, stuffed grape leaves, and savory pastries, prepared by local families.
Children sang a traditional holiday song for adults and the evening concluded with a puppet show and play performed by Ankara Sanatevi, a cultural group from the Turkish capital.
